Water level above danger mark in Saptakoshi river

ITAHARI, June 22: The water level in the Saptakoshi River has reached at danger mark on Wednesday morning due to the incessant rainfall in Eastern region since Monday night.

The water level at the river was 178,900 cusec this morning and it is rising every passing hour.

27 sluice gates out of 56 at the barrage have been opened following increase in the water level.  According to local administration, it would open more sluice gates as per the requirement.

Two warning lights have been lit after the water level crossed the 150,000 cusec at the barrage.

Two warning lights are lit at the barrage if the water level crosses 150,000 cusec and three warning lights if the water level crosses 950,000 cusec.
