SAPTARI, July 12: The torrential rainfall occurred for two days flooded the Saptakoshi River. Owing to the rising level of the River, red flag is placed on the Koshi Barrage, signaling the alert. Among 56 sluice gates, 23 are opened owing to the warning level.
Until Friday afternoon, the water level in the River was recorded at 172,625 cusec per second, said the Koshi Barrage Control. After the water flow increases to 150,000 cusec, the red signal is maintained on the Barrage for the public alertness.
With this, the district administration office, Sunsari, and the local levels have urged the people in the vicinity to remain watchful. Chief District Officer Surendra Poudel said the district disaster management committee was ready for the rescue and relief distribution and people made aware of possible risk.
