PARBAT, March 16: The earthquake survivors of different rural municipalities in Parbat district are facing tough time due to water crisis.

When there is acute shortage of drinking water the reconstruction of houses devastated by the 2015 earthquake is a far cry here.

Madhav Prasad Bhattarai, a local of Shaligram-5, Hanumandanda who languished in a fragile hut for 16 months after earthquake, had initiated the construction of a new home but could not make his way due to water shortage.

He shared the nearby sources of water turned dry after couples of days of the earthquake.
"There was very limited water bubbled up in the source till the foundation was laid", Bhattarai said, adding now the construction work is completely halted for no availability of water.
There are many quake victims like Bhattarai in the district who have been facing water crisis and subsequent problems.

The earthquake survivors said that the water sources are drying up due to a long spell of drought this year which has made the problem more intense. RSS
