KATHMANDU, May 10: A special session of the House of Representatives (HoR) is set to begin shortly at the federal parliament building in New Baneshwor, Kathmandu.

Lawmakers of the federal parliament have reached Baneshwor to cast their votes on the trust motion.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to seek a vote of confidence from the 275-member lower house of parliament. As four seats have fallen vacant, PM Oli requires to garner at least 136 votes to win the confidence motion.

As the lawmakers close to Madhav Kumar Nepal-led faction within the ruling CPN-UML have decided to abstain from the voting and Mahanta Thakur and Rajendra Mahato-led faction of Janata Samajbadi Party has also decided to stay neutral, it is highly unlikely that Prime Minister Oli would be able to garner majority votes in parliament.
