KATHMANDU, May 16: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya today said the ongoing vote count for the May 13 local election would be concluded by May 19. Talking to media persons at the Biratnagar Airport, he said 50 percent results would come out by May 17 and full results are expected by May 19.
The Commission will manage the required workforce, security personnel, finance and other necessary resources for vote count, he said, stressing the need for mobilizing a large number of employees from civil servants, the provincial governments and local bodies to speed up the vote count.
It will facilitate resolving small shortcomings surfaced at vote-counting venues, he said. "Security arrangements have been strengthened at the vote-counting venues. So, there should not be any delay in vote counting."
The government has been urged to hold and take action as per the law against those involved in incidents violating the election code of conduct during the polls, he said.
