Kathmandu, Dec 8: Election Commissioner Ishwari Prasad Poudel has said that vote counting was going ahead smoothly throughout the country.
Talking briefly to journalists at the City Hall where he had gone in connection with observing the vote counting, Commissioner Poudel said the vote counting was going ahead peacefully at all the vote counting centres across the country.
"Vote counting is on, with the representatives of the political parties remaining outside the wire mesh fence and the enumerators doing their job inside the wiremesh enclosure at the vote counting stations," he said.
He made it clear that the counting was being done in a manner the results of the vote counting towards the House of Representatives elections would be available in four days and towards the proportional representation elections within eight days throughout the country.
"We will put in place special arrangements if there is delay in vote counting," he added.
Votes from Kathmandu district constituency no. 1, 2, 3 and 4 are being counted at the City Hall vote counting station. The votes from each constituency are being counted at two places each, the Election Commission has said. RSS
