KATHMANDU, April 29: Twenty-one volunteers from South Korea have dedicated themselves in renovating Mahendragram Secondary School of Chagunarayan Municipality-8, Jitpur in Bhaktapur district since the last one week.

The school building which was flattened by the catastrophic earthquake of 2015 was reconstructed last year.

"Volunteers from various countries helped construct the two-storey building with four rooms. Now, the Korean volunteers are putting their efforts in painting, managing furniture and wiring," said Som Kumar Shrestha, principal of the school, adding, "We have finally received a well- facilitated building."

Seoul Facility Corporation (SFC) based in Seoul, the capital city of South Korea, deployed these volunteers for a one-week social service.

"We are currently painting the walls and managing furniture for the school," said Kim Hyun Joong, the leader of the team, adding, "We are glad that we got this opportunity."

Every year, SFC sends its volunteers to various countries for social service. "We are just utilizing our skills so that we could help students get a better school," said another member Khang Hyun Gu. Ram Kumar Karki, chairperson of the School Management Committee, informed Republica that the volunteers invested around Rs 1 million for the school.
