Vivek Anand Oberoi: I don’t waste time on negative crap

Vivek Anand Oberoi is currently battling his way to the theatres with the team of the film, PM Narendra Modi. The actor recently spoke to BT about the trials and tribulations his film and he have been through in recent times. The actor also spilled the beans on how difficult it has been for him to survive in an unforgiving industry and how it hasn’t ever deterred him from helping out other newcomers and making decisions that he feels strongly for.

When we met Vivek recently, we reminded him about a statement made by director Sanjay Gupta, who had once worked with him on Shootout At Lokhandwala and wanted to cast him in Shootout At Wadala. Back in 2013, the filmmaker had told a magazine that Vivek was solely responsible for his career going downhill. To this, Vivek said, “There are a lot of people who say a lot about you but it’s up to you whether you want to believe it or brush it aside. I don’t waste time on negative crap, which comes from everyone including friends. There are advisors and so-called well-wishers who will say things to you. I was advised against trying new media; I was told my career will be finished. But here I am -- part of an Emmy nominated program. I would like to see which friend or well-wisher now has to say that I am going downhill. You need to believe in yourself. Everyone makes mistakes, show me one person who hasn’t. The thing is you don’t live with them; you move on. I have. Today, I have some real friends in this industry. Only thing is, I don’t take selfies with them and post them on social media. I go to their homes, they come to mine and we keep it real. I’m not that guy who thrives on virtual reality. I meet friends to enjoy their company not to create a lobby or a social media clique.”

Vivek, time, negative,
