KATHMANDU, Sep 5: Nepali national cricketer Sompal Kami, currently participating in the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, recently had a memorable encounter with Indian cricket superstar Virat Kohli.
Kami had the opportunity to collect Kohli's autograph, which he graciously signed on Kami's cricket shoes. Sompal shared a photo of this cherished moment on his social media accounts.
More than just shoes
In his post, Sompal Kami expressed deep admiration for Virat Kohli, highlighting that Kohli is not merely a cricketer but also embodies a unique spirit. The post read, 'Virat Kohli is not just a cricketer, he is a soul.'
The Asia Cup featured a highly anticipated match between Nepal and India, which took place on Monday. Although Nepal faced a defeat by 10 wickets, the match witnessed some notable performances. Sompal Kami fell just short of a half-century, contributing 48 runs off 56 balls, including one boundary and two sixes. Asif Sheikh also played a pivotal role for Nepal, scoring 58 runs from 97 balls with eight boundaries. Nepal had set a competitive target of 231 runs against India.
Despite the loss, Nepal's spirited performance earned them admiration and support from sports enthusiasts, proving that they had won the hearts of fans throughout the tournament.
