KATHMANDU, May 26: Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav has honored Hari Budhamagar who created a new record as the first double above-knee amputee to summit Sagarmatha (Mt Everest).
At a special event organized to honor the record-holder mountaineer at the Office of the Vice President at Lainchaur, Kathmandu today, VP Yadav congratulated Budhamagar for achieving this feat.
"The sheer determination, willpower and hard work to do something worthwhile have made you create a record even after losing both legs in the battlefield in Afghanistan as a Gurkha soldier some 13 years ago," lauded VP Yadav, commending that his record had made all Nepalis proud.
Budhamagar, who originally hails from Mirul village in Rolpa district and currently lives in the UK, scaled the highest mountain in the world on May 19 this spring.
He climbed the 8,848.86 meters tall mountain with prosthetic legs after consistent efforts of five years.
VP Yadav, heaping praises for Budhamagar's recent success, said that it was a testament to diligence, patience and confidence. He further wished that may Budhamagar's historic feat inspire people with disabilities.
The Vice President shared that he took immense pride to honor Budhamagar while his happiness was being celebrated at home and across the world.
He also extended best wishes to Budhamagar for a bright future and wished for peace, prosperity, longevity for him.
