Veteran litterateur Dixit no more

KATHMANDU, August 15: Veteran litterateur and winner of Madan Puraskar Madan Mani Dixit passed away today morning. Dixit was an eminent novelist.

He was born on February 17, 1923, in Kathmandu.

Dixit was admitted to Sumeru Hospital in Lalitpur last week due to pneumonia attack. He was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday. He was rushed to Himal Hospital in Putalisadak after he fainted at own residence.

The doctors of the hospital pronounced him dead. He was suffering from heart, kidney and respiratory complications.

Late Dixit's literary works include 'Madhavi', 'Rigveda" Kehi Pramukh Sukti' and 'Gas Chamberko Mrityu'.

He had received several accolades including Madan Puruskar, Sajha Puruskar and Padmashree Puruskar for his outstanding contribution to the Nepali literature.

He also has made a huge contribution to Nepal's journalism. He is survived by a spouse, three sons, and a daughter. Dixit's final rites will be performed at Pashupati Aryaghat today, according to his grandson Awani Dixit. (With inputs from RSS)
