Valentine’s Day comes with a lot of gifts

Valentine’s Day comes with a lot of gifts

KATHMANDU, Feb 10: With the arrival of Valentine’s Week, gift items such as cards, soft toys, red heart-shaped cushions, chocolates, and bouquets, among others occupy maximum space in the numerous gift shops around Kathmandu Valley.

Even if you don’t have a date this Valentine’s Day, the colorful gifts and soft toys hanging around every alley will definitely make you hope for a partner. Millions of couples across the globe exchange gifts with their loved ones on February 14 and put forth their best efforts to impress their date. You may have noticed neatly wrapped pink and red gifts boxes at different gifts shop of the Valley.

Chocolates
Chocolates are the easiest way to melt anyone’s heart and hence exchange of chocolates has become one of the most common ways to express love. Branch Manager of Bhatbhateni Tripureshwar, Sabin Bayanjakar said, “Mostly teenagers visit the store to buy gifts, cards, chocolates, flowers and so on for Valentine’s Day. Youngsters mostly prefer big packets of chocolates.” He added that chocolates were the least expensive as well as safest gifts anyone could give to their loved ones.

Gifts and cards
Gifts and cards are the ultimate choices for Valentine’s Day gifts. Love birds exchange gifts and cards as a token of love to mark the day of love. Owner of Archiest Gift Shop at CTC Mall, Sundhara, Alisha Adhakari said, “We have different special gifts for this valentine like magic cushions, record hearts, talking hearts and message jars. Especially teenagers are our main costumers during the Valentine’s Week.” She added that the business of soft toys, cards, and teddy bears had gone up in the run up to V-Day. Assistant supervisor at Civil Mall-based Miniso Shop, Asan Magar said, “This year, we have some unique gift items for Valentine’s Day like artificial roses, soft toys, heart printed ceramic bowls, cups and sets of ceramic tableware. “Mostly college students visit our store to buy gifts during Valentine’s Day,” he said.

Flowers
Flowers are used in every occasion, but red roses are mostly during this time of the year. Red roses, being the symbol of love, sell like hot cakes a day before Valentine’s Day. Owner of New Florist Flower Shop at Tripureshwar, Goma Tamang said, “We will start making bouquets of red roses from February 13. Normally we only sell flower and bouquets, but we have also kept cards, gifts and teddy bears targeting this Valentine’s Day.” She added that it would seem like flowers are expensive but some flowers cost a bit extra bucks because ‘they are hard to preserve and wither very soon’.
