Vaccination centers in Kathmandu Valley are overcrowded as govt makes vaccination card mandatory to avail public services

KATHMANDU, Jan 13: With the government making it mandatory to have vaccination cards to avail public service starting January 21, the number of people getting vaccination against COVID-19 has increased across the Kathmandu Valley.

It is mandatory for anyone entering the office, hotel, restaurant, cinema, stadium, park and airport to carry vaccination cards starting January 21. As a result, a large number of people are seen eager to get vaccinated against the COVID-19. 

The number of people in various vaccination centers in Kathmandu has increased sharply, according to the health officials. A huge crowd of people waiting to get vaccines was seen at Teku Hospital and Civil Service Hospital on Thursday.

As there was a huge crowd gathered to get vaccination, social distance as well as other necessary health standards were properly maintained. 

There has been an increasing number of COVID-19 cases across the country. On Thursday, 3,553 news cases were recorded in Nepal, in which 1,916 new cases were recorded in Kathmandu Valley alone.
