KARNALI, April 8: Around sixty per cent posts of human resources have remained vacant at the Health Service Directorate, Karnali Province.
At an interaction with media persons organized by the Health Service Directorate on the occasion of 75th World Health Day here Friday, Director Dr Rabin Khadka said out of 908 quotas in Karnali, only 363 health workers were working.
"There are still 544 posts lying vacant. How can health be improved from such a situation? " he asked.
Khadka further said the health sector has been affected for lack of effective coordination and collaboration among three-tier governments. Pointing out the need of health insurance based on contribution, he laid emphasis on revision in policy to make the health insurance scheme more effective.
Similarly, Chief of Karnali Province Ayurvedic Hospital Dr Shankar Prasad Rijal shared that human health is at a growing risk due to changing lifestyle.
Karnali Province representative of the World Health Organisation, Pradeep Adhikari, mentioned that healthy habits are the basis of every citizen's life. The bodies concerned should pay attention to public health promotion programmes, he suggested.
