KATHMANDU, July 29: The U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC) has launched ‘Soy Fed’, Nepal’s first feed label for animal protein product producers. The feed label will drive public awareness about protein-rich feed sources and highlight its role in quality protein consumption for animals and humans.
According to a statement issued by the company, the ‘Soy Fed’ label is a step towards empowering consumers in making informed choices while enabling them to differentiate packaged poultry, meat, and fish through soybean meal, a high-protein animal feed.

The soybean meal has a tremendous impact on the growth and development of livestock, poultry, or fish due to the superior amino acid profile and amino acid digestibility. This makes soy-fed animal protein products high-quality protein foods for human consumption.
“The ‘Soy Fed’ label is our effort to further Nepal’s health agenda to meet protein sufficiency goals. We aim to educate both the industry and the consumers to distinguish soy as the quality protein source for animal feed and to be more aware about their protein food choices,” the statement quoted Deeba Giannoulis, the Head of Marketing of USSEC, South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa, as saying.
