KATHMANDU, August 2: : US Embassy in Kathmandu on Tuesday organized a program to share results of 'Better Harvests: Higher Incomes, More Food and A Brighter Future for Nepal' -- a program under Knowledge-based Integrated Sustainable Agriculture and Nutrition (KISAN) Project implemented with the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MoAD).

Issuing a statement on Tuesday, the embassy said that, the KISAN program fostered partnerships between Nepali farmers and over 700 private sector enterprises in the past five years. “The KISAN project also trained over 118,000 households across 20 districts in western Nepal. These farmers are now using modern farming technologies to meet market standards for rice, maize, lentils and high-value vegetables,” the embassy said in the statement. The project was a joint initiative of the MoAD and the US government.
