KATHMANDU, Aug 16: U.S. Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Richard R. Verma arrived in Kathmandu for a one-day visit to Nepal on Friday.
According to the U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu, Deputy Secretary Verma is scheduled to meet with President Ram Chandra Paudel and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. He will also hold meetings with Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba.

This is the highest-level visit from the U.S. since UML Chairman Oli was appointed Prime Minister.
The delegation, including Deputy Secretary Verma, is also scheduled to meet with representatives of development projects and entrepreneurs in Nepal. The discussions will focus on economic development, women's empowerment, and other issues between the two countries.
Deputy Secretary Verma will depart for India later today. According to the U.S. Department of State, he will stay in India until August 22.
