KATHMANDU, May 13: The Ministry of Urban Development is gearing up to resubmit the proposal for the establishment of Ishaan Smart City in Kathmandu among the four smart city projects previously presented to the Cabinet.

Following the stagnation of the Ishaan Smart City proposal, which was tabled before the Council of Ministers three years ago, the Ministry has initiated preparations to resubmit the proposal after a thorough review of the initial plan.

During a meeting held on Sunday to discuss project progress, Urban Development Minister Dhan Bahadur Budha directed officials to present the Ishaan Smart City proposal to the Physical Infrastructure Committee within a month.

Minister Budha, who conducted an on-site inspection of the Ishaan Smart City project last week, was informed by local residents and representatives that the prolonged land blockade for the smart city had significantly inconvenienced them. They urged swift action on the project's construction.

The proposal for the project, submitted by the Ministry in 2078 BS, has yet to receive approval from the Council of Ministers.

Expressing concern over project delays causing distress to citizens, Minister Budha instructed concerned authorities, including the Kathmandu Valley Development Authority, to present the proposal before the Physical Infrastructure Committee and subsequently to the Council of Ministers within a month.

Highlighting the importance of commencing new city development with Ishaan Smart City, Minister Budha pledged to expedite the process of Cabinet approval for the new city construction proposal.

Maniram Gelal, Secretary of the Ministry of Urban Development, said that Ishaan Smart City would move forward by establishing a robust framework to advance the existing proposal for new city construction.
