KATHMANDU, May 13: The Federal Parliament members have stressed that development, construction and industrialisation issues should be given priority in the upcoming budget.

Airing their views about the principles and priorities of the Appropriation Bill (except tax proposal)- 2076-77 BS during the National Assembly (NA) session today, they asserted this.

Bharaib Sundar Shrestha said the government new policies and programs had documented the people’s aspirations. Stating that the upcoming year was to be observed as the ‘youth mobilization year’, he expressed his hope for the development at an accelerated pace as the upcoming budget was likely to accord priority to educational and industrial development.

Jitendra Narayan Dev took time to question why the economic survey report would not come before the policies and programs. He described the government new policies and programs as the continuation of rituals without any alternative perspectives.

Despite potentialities for road and highway developments, such issues failed to get priority in the policies and programs, he claimed. Khimlal Bhattarai was of the view that with the implementation of big projects, people should be liberated from poverty. As he said, Nepal is making its way ahead in terms of infrastructure development. The issues oppressed community and single women should be incorporated into the principles and priorities of the Appropriation Bill. 'One state, one industrial zone' concept should be materialised to implement the development budget.
