UPDATE: Death toll climbs to 4 in Udayapur jeep accident

UDAYAPUR, Dec 19: The death toll has climbed to four in the jeep accident in Udayapur. Of them, three died on the spot while one breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Katari Hospital at around 11 am on Thursday.

The deceased have been identified as Tik Narayan Shrestha, 61, Dhak Bahadur Shrestha, 47, Min Narayan Shrestha, 47 and Tikaram Shrestha, 35.

The Bolero jeep met with an accident at Udayapurgadhi-3, Jaruwa in the western belt of the district at around 9:30 am on Thursday. 

The ill-fated Indian jeep (SK 01 PB 3068) lost its control and skidded some 200 meters off the road, according to the District Police Office, Udayapur. 

Eight passengers were traveling in the jeep when the accident took place. Of them, two have sustained injuries and two are normal, informed Superintendent of Police (SP) Bir Bahadur Budha Magar. 

The permanent inhabitant of Pathari Shanischare of Morang, Shrestha family had hired the jeep of Sikkim, India to visit their ancestral home. The accident took place while they were returning from the village.
