Nikosera lies in the heart of Bhaktapur. The place stands on the way of Araniko Highway between Sallaghari and Purano Thimi. Despite the fact that highway is well-pitched, the streets of Nikosera, however, haven’t been well managed and is damaged. It has already been more than a year and still, it’s an exhausting journey for the commuters.

Bhaktapur is well managed in terms of roads. However, the case is not the same in Nikosera. There are puddles in the streets, creating a kind of blockade for commuters and local people. The shops around the streets are suffering the most.

One of the locals, Punya Ram Dhaubanjar has been facing the consequences of road damage for more than a year. “Only sometime before, the puddle used to remain only for the monsoon season. However, nowadays, it remains every day. This is so worse that the splash of the puddle come to the shops these days,” he lamented.

The street is covered with murky water because of the pipeline in the Nikosera bursts almost daily. And as the mud remains in the Nikosera streets every time, the road is in the critical condition. According to the locals, the road has been maintained for more than 12 times a year but still, the renovation hasn’t been successful.

Regardless the streets are in bad condition, the locals think due to the greed for commissions on goods required for constructing the road, the renovation is being unsuccessful.

According to the locals, people have been working in the full of negligence since they won’t be getting any money if the street is made in a good way.

The chairman of the Madhyapur Thimi Municipality, Ram Kaji Chakradhar said that the problem of the hazardously pitched road has been going for more than four years now. “In a bright side, the road department has been working to solve this issue. Now, the locals won’t have to face the burden because of the streets.”
