KARNALI, April 20: Minister for Education, Science and Technology Devendra Poudel has said that universities are responsible for improving higher education.
Addressing the second convocation ceremony of Madhyapaschim University in Surkhet on Tuesday, Minister Poudel also urged universities to focus on producing competent human resources required for the prosperity of the country.

Minister Poudel said that he is leading the reform in three fronts of the education system- legal/policy, teaching and learning, and physical infrastructures. A 55-point roadmap has been launched to bring reforms in secondary, higher education and technical and vocational education.
"These three types of education would be improved to meet international standards," he said, arguing that entire educational restructuring was mulled for quality enhancement.
Minister Poudel informed that drafts of the Act to manage technical education and institutions, federal education and higher education were also readied by the government. It is time to link education to skill and skill to employment. He said that the government had initiated a process to establish medical colleges in each province.
Addressing the convocation ceremony, Nobel Laureate and child right activist Kailash Satyarthi argued education is the major foundation of development.
