HETAUDA, Dec 2: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman, Kamal Thapa, has demanded with the government to announce the date of the local body elections arguing that it is necessary to hold elections in midst of the challenge to implement the constitution.

He made the remarks during an address to the joint activists' mass meeting in Hetauda on Thursday.

On the occasion, Thapa said the servile attitude displayed by the major political parties in the last two decades to seek foreign support for obtaining state power has weakened the country and turned it into a hotbed of corruption.

The leader was of the opinion that the country now needed an experienced, sincere and capable leadership to rid the country of foreign influence and give it momentum for progress. He took the opportunity to assert that the recent party unity would turn RPP into an alternate nationalist force.

RPP National Chairman, Pashupati Shumsher JBR, accused Congress and leftist forces of driving the country into regression in name of democracy and progress. He added that the party unification was held to give the country a capable leadership.

RPP's senior leader, Dr Prakash Chandra Lohani, said RPP can alone give the country a right leadership and that it would move forward as nationalist and development-oriented force.

At the programme, RPP General Secretary, Buddhiman Tamang, and central member and Minister for Land Reform and Management, Bikram Pandey, said the two parties unified to stop the influence of foreign forces, and consolidate the country's constitution and democracy. RSS
