KATHMANDU, Jan 27: The United National Squatters Front Nepal staged a sit-in at New Baneshwor, demanding not to remove their settlements without a permanent alternative. The Front held a demonstration in the New Baneshwor area with a three-point demand.
On Thursday, Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah met Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane for the initiative to remove the squatters. Then today, the squatters hit the streets in protest.
They have demanded that the complaints filed against the land right campaigners should be withdrawn and they should not be removed without a permanent alternative and they should be given compensation as per the Land Reform Act.
