KATHMANDU, Feb 5: Uniglobe College in collaboration with Global College International organized a three-day model United Nations conference, UGCIMUN 2020, in Kathmandu.

The three-day event beginning January 30 had five International Dais members from India and about 160 students participate as delegates in the conference, according to the organizer.

Over the years, the UGCIMUN has already established itself as the 'Mecca of Model United Nations Simulation' in the region as in the last editions of the event, more than 250 delegates from three different countries participated in the event.

The motto of this event is “ex notitia victory”, which translates to 'To Know, To Win'. It offers a platform for the young minds to learn and debate on various issues of international importance in order to spread awareness about the current international issues.

The opening ceremony was joined by former Minister of Finance and Minister of Foreign Affairs Prakash Chandra Lohani, who talked about the importance of youth's involvement in national and international level decision making. “Events like Model United Nations provide a platform for youths to better understand national and international issues and polish them to get involved in the decision-making process in the future,” he said.

One of the main goals of UGCIMUN is to propagate the message that all the members of human race prosper in peaceful harvest and to encourage the future leaders to adopt legal and adequate methods to bring in revolutions for various problems being faced internationally.

The event drew participation of students from various schools and colleges discussing over the common agenda 'South China Sea Conflict' in five different committees---United National General Assembly (Disarmament and International Security Committee), United Nations General Assembly (Special Political and Decolonization Committee), United Nations Security Council, Futuristic United Nations Security Council and Indo-Nepal Joint Cabinet Meet.
