Earlier, a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Unified Socialist held on Saturday had decided to allow the MCC to be tabled in parliament but had said that it would not support passing it without amendment.

However, CPN (Unified Socialist) leader Jhalanath Khanal expressed concern over the decision of the senior leaders of the ruling alliance to table the project. Stating that his own party decided to table the MCC at parliament, Khanal said that he would not accept the decision by the party’s Standing Committee meeting held on Saturday.
