KATHMANDU, July 1: CPN-UML has grabbed the chief of Menchhayem Rural Municipality. UML candidate Yadav Bahadur Khapung Khapung has been elected as the chief with 1, 668 votes while his closest rival of Nepali Congress Deu Kumar Limbu got 1, 496 votes.

Similarly, to the post of deputy mayor, Gita Devi Timsina of Nepali Congress has been elected with 1, 486 votes, defeating her rival of CPN-UML Dil Kumari Shankar.
In a total of 3, 514 votes were cast in the local level elections held on June 28. Shankar got 1, 420 votes.
