KATHMANDU, Feb 14: The main opposition party, CPN-UML, has decided to boycott an all-party meeting called by Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota.


According to the CPN-UML, the party has decided not to attend the meeting convened by Speaker Sapkota. Sources claimed that the UML is also preparing to register an impeachment motion against Speaker Sapkota later today.

A meeting of the UML Secretariat held on Sunday evening concluded that the ruling party had moved the impeachment motion against Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana with the objective of attacking democracy, the federal democratic republican system and destabilizing the political system and creating controlled instability in the country. The party has also decided to protest the move.


An all-party meeting called by Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota is being held today. According to Speaker Sapkota’s Personal Secretariat, the meeting has been called for 2 PM at the Parliament Secretariat in Singha Durbar.


Speaker Sapkota convened a meeting to discuss the latest political development as the ruling parties decided to file an impeachment motion against Chief Justice Rana.
