KATHMANDU, May 2: Main opposition CPN-UML and Rastriya Prajatanta Party (RPP) are all set to develop an alliance for local level elections in Kathmandu and Lalitpur Metropolitan City.
After a meeting between RPP Chairman Kamal Thapa, UML Chair KP Sharma Oli and UML Senior Leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, RPP Deputy Spokesperson Mohan Shrestha said that the two parties would develop an alliance. "If the alliance is declared, we'll support UML candidates in mayor posts in both metropolitan cities and UML will support our candidates for deputy mayor," said Shrestha.
A member at UML's central committee said that the party is preparing for the alliance and discussing about probable candidates though only couple of hours remaining for filing candidacies.
