UML, MC reach on seven-point party unification deal

KATHMANDU, Feb 19: CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center) have reached on seven-point party unification deal. The meeting of top leaders of both parties held at Baluwatar has decided to form a unified party naming it as Nepal Communist Party.

The leaders have agreed on seven-point deal terming it as a key guideline for the unification of two parties. They have decided to follow the principle of Marxism-Leninism. ​ 

The statement was signed by the senior leaders of both parties including both chairmen, KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhalanath Khanal, Bam Dev Gautam, Ishwar Pokharel, Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Ram Bahadur Thapa.

The leaders have agreed on People’s Multiparty Democracy conceptualized by UML and Maoism followed by CPN (MC) to be discussed and amended as per the need. This ideology will be the guideline for the conceptualizing the interim statute for the operation of the unified party, reads the statement.

Likewise, the leaders have agreed to hold the upcoming convention as the unified convention of the party.
