KATHMANDU, Nov 26: The 10th National General Convention of the CPN-UML is being inaugurated at noon today amidst a special function being organized at Narayani River bank in Chitwan.
UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli will inaugurate the convention at 12 PM today. The UML has stated that all preparations have been completed for the inauguration and more than 500,000 people will participate in the inauguration. The convention will be attended by 2,175 delegates.
Leaders of various parties including the Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba are scheduled to address the convention. Representatives of major political parties from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Cambodia and other countries will attend the meeting. Video messages from the Chinese Communist Party have been received, while congratulatory messages from political parties in various countries have been received.
The UML has put forward the slogan, "Let's build the foundation of socialism under the guidance of the people by strengthening multi-party democracy". The closed session of the General Convention to be organized for the election of new leadership will be held in Sauraha.
