BIRATNAGAR, Nov 16: The main opposition CPN-UML has demanded postponement of the meeting of the Provincial Assembly of Province 1 scheduled for Tuesday. The main opposition party, CPN-UML, has demanded the postponement of the meeting as Chief Minister of Province 1 Rajendra Rai is preparing to table a vote of confidence motion in the meeting.

Buddhi Kumar Rajbhandari, chief whip of UML for province 1, said that they have demanded to postpone the meeting of the provincial assembly as their members of parliament could not attend the assembly meeting due to the strike called by the Chand-led CPN.

Rajbhandari said that the CPN-UML MPs have not been able to attend the meeting due to the strike and only seven MPs can make it to the meeting. “But the ruling coalition did not agree with us because of which we left the meeting,” he added.

According to him, the opposition party CPN-UML has already filed an application in the Provincial Assembly Secretariat demanding postponement of the meeting. Rajbhandari has also clarified that UML MPs will not be present in case the meeting of the provincial assembly commences. “Opposition party, CPN-UML will not participate in today's meeting as our MPs could not come due to strike,” he said.
