CHHITWAN, May 17: UML mayoral candidate Devi Gyawali continues to take the lead in the race for the mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City with 2502 votes, compared to 1659 votes garnered by his closest rival Maoist Center mayoral candidate Renu Dahal.
Gyawali is leading Dahal by 843 votes.
Likewise, Nepali Congress deputy mayoral candidate Parbati Shah is taking the lead in the race for deputy mayor of the metropolitan city with 2066 votes.
Her closest rival UML deputy mayoral candidate has garnered 2044 votes.
There are 29 wards in Bharatpur Metropolitan City. Altogether 1,12,000 votes have been cast in Bharatpur Metropolitan City. Vote counting has concluded in Ward-1 only. Vote counting in Ward-2 is underway now.
