KATHMANDU, Oct 11: The main opposition party CPN-UML have continued their protest in the meeting of the National Assembly (NA) which was held for today as well. Following the start of obstruction from UML lawmakers, Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timalsina of the NA gave UML NA whip Khimlal Bhattarai to present his views.

Chief Whip Bhattarai said that the parties in the present ruling coalition had filed a case against the previous government due to non-political and chair fascination and claimed that its justification has now been confirmed.

“Even though there was a feeling in people's minds that the coalition filed a case against the previous government in the court to protect the constitution, the confusion has become clear now." Bhattarai said. Accusing the ruling coalition of bringing the party split ordinance to weaken the CPN-UML, he said that the ruling coalition did as there was no other way for them to rise into political power.

Bhattarai also accused the ruling government of whitewashing the black money by not even looking for the source. He also questioned the government for staying quiet over the death of Jay Singh Dhami in the ‘Darchula Tuin incident’.

Furthermore, he condemned the incident that took place in the home district of Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand, where four people died after the police fired shots at landless squatters on Sunday. Bhattarai demanded an investigation into the incident, free treatment of the injured and compensation for the families of the bereaved. He claimed that the present government had made a big mistake by dismissing the land commission formed by the former PM KP Sharma Oli at a time when the commission was about to distribute land ownership papers to landless squatters.
