UML candidate elected as mayor of Budhiganga

KATHMANDU, July 10: UML's Ram Bahadur Baniya has been elected as the mayor of Bajura's Budhiganga Municipality. Similarly, UML's Maya Kumari Khadka Kunwar has been elected as the deputy mayor. However, a formal announcement is yet to be made.

KATHMANDU, July 10: UML's Ram Bahadur Baniya has been elected as the mayor of Bajura's Budhiganga Municipality. Similarly, UML's Maya Kumari Khadka Kunwar has been elected as the deputy mayor. However, a formal announcement is yet to be made.


Baniya of UML, who won the post of mayor, got 4,777 votes while his nearest rival Rang Bahadur Khati of Nepali Congress got 3,774 votes.

Similarly, UML’s Kunwar got 4,727 votes while her nearest rival Nepali Congress candidate Rita Shahi got 3,755 votes.


UML has won in seven out of the 10 wards of Budhiganga and Congress has won in three wards.


The Election Commission (EC) had canceled the polling on May 13, saying that it was rigged, and reheld the election  on  July 7.
