KATMANDU, April 15: United Kingdom´s Under Secretary of State for Defence and Minister for Veterans Kevan Jones met with President Dr Ram Baram Yadav, Defense Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa and Chief of Army General Rookmangud Katawal on Wednesday and discussed issues of bilateral concerns.
Minister Jones paid a courtesy call on the President, Rajendra Dahal, the press advisor to the President said. The Nepal Army labeled the meeting between the two as “courtesy call.”
However, Jones could not meet with the Prime Minister as PM Dahal had to leave for Birgunj to attend a training program organized by the Unified Maoists, the British embassy said.
Jones arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday on a five-day visit to address the issues concerning the British Gurkhas.
The minister is set to visit British Gurkha Camps in Pokhara and the Gurkha Welfare Trust. He will meet Gurkha pensioners on Thursday and Foreign Minister Upendra Yadav on Friday.
