KATHMANDU, Nov 22: Condemning the recent election-related violence in Nepal, the United Kingdom has called on all stakeholders to ensure that the elections to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies are held in a peaceful, inclusive and broadly supported manner. The two crucial elections are scheduled for November 26 and December 7.
"The UK calls on all groups to respect the right to freedom of peaceful expression and assembly, the right to vote, as well as to participate and stand for election, in line with Nepal's Constitution and international human rights conventions," said a press statement issued by the UK Embassy in Kathmandu on Tuesday. The UK has also called on the security forces to comply with the existing national and international standards when carrying out their duties.
