MAHOTTARI, March 28: The cadres of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF), which are against the local elections, have picketed the District Election Office, Mahottari on Tuesday.
Hundreds of Madhesi cadres and staged a sit-in in front of the DEO, Jaleshwar from 11 am until 5 pm today.
The UDMF has staged a sit-in and picketed the DEO as per the previous protest programs, said Sadbhawana Party Vice Chairman Sudip Jha.
The UDMF has resumed their protest programs in order to heap pressure on the government to amend the constitution prior to local election slated for May 14.
The UDMF has been threatening to disrupt the local elections if held without amending the constitution.
The agitating Madhesi leaders have padlocked Gaushala and Jaleshwor Municipalities along with other 10 village councils.
There are 3 municipalities and 12 village councils in Mahottari district.
