UAE urged to invest in Nepal's hydropower sector

KATHMANDU, Jan 16: Minister for Energy Janardan Sharma has urged Energy Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Suhail Al Mazroui to invest in the hydropower sector of Nepal.

KATHMANDU, Jan 16: Minister for Energy Janardan Sharma has urged Energy Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Suhail Al Mazroui to invest in the hydropower sector of Nepal. 


In a meeting held at the Energy Ministry at UAE Capital, Abu Dhabi, on Monday, Minister Sharma asked his UAE counterpart to flow investment to hydropower production in Nepal, shared Attaché of Nepal's Embassy to UAE, Keshab Raj Pokharel.

Minister Sharma, who reached there to participate in the World Future Energy Summit-2017, urged the UAE government to make investment in hydropower of Nepal as the sector has high growth potential for next hundred years. 


On the occasion, UAE Energy Minister Mazroui also expressed their willingness to make investment in the hydropower, agriculture and tourism in Nepal and recommended his Nepali counterpart to focus hydro and solar energy in an integrated manner for the sustainable energy development in Nepal. 


Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and Minister for Energy Sharma are taking part in the Summit on behalf of Nepal. 


The Summit would discuss the implementation of the plan to increase the production of bio gas and solar energy to 90 per cent and limiting production of other traditional energy to 10 per cent. 


As many as 150 nations' heads of the state and government and ministers are taking part in the weeklong Summit. RSS
