MYAGDI, April 8: Budhi Bahadur Pariyar, 29, of Malika Rural Municipality-2, Beligaun had promised his wife Pabitra that he would return home from Malaysia during next Dashain with new clothes for her. Unfortunately, his dream has been shattered. The whole village was grief-stricken when he returned home before the promised date, but, in a white coffin.

It had been just ten days since Beligaun had received the dead body of Dharma Lal Rokka, 28, who too had gone to Malaysia in search of employment.  Villagers went through another shock after receiving the dead body of Pariyar within an interval of ten days.

On March 26, Pariyar was found dead in his room after returning from work. But due to the negligence of the Nepali Embassy in Malaysia, his body was returned to Nepal only on Friday and was cremated on Saturday. Pariyar had gone to Malaysia five years ago. He is survived by his old father, wife and a daughter. His body was kept in a hospital in Malaysia for ten days due to the negligence of the Nepali Embassy.

Pariyar's father Rana Bahadur Pariyar is a kidney patient. He had gone abroad to earn enough money for the education of his daughter and treatment of his father.  Rana Bahadur had been undergoing treatment by putting his land as collateral, expecting that his son would pay the amount on his return.

But now, he has no idea how he will pay the debt and get back his land. On top of that, he has to undergo treatment as well. "I don't know how his family will manage their living in his absence," said Tul Bahadur Pun, Pariyar's friend and a local.

With more than half of the youths in Gulf countries for employment, it's hard to find youths in Beligaun. Expressing his concerns toward the deaths of youths in foreign land, Shree Prasad Rokka, chairperson of Malika Rural Municipality stressed the need for creating employment opportunities in the rural municipality itself. He also assured to provide relief to the victim's family.
