Two yarsa collectors fall off cliffs to death in Darchula

DARCHULA, July 6: Two yarsa collectors died after falling off two different cliffs in Api Himal Rural Municipality on Wednesday and Thursday.

DARCHULA, July 6: Two yarsa collectors died after falling off two different cliffs in Api Himal Rural Municipality on Wednesday and Thursday.


Sher Singh Thagunna, 37, of Naigad Rural Municipality-2 died on Thursday after falling off Dharamdhar hill at Api Himal-3, according to Govinda Singh Thagunna, a local.

Similarly, around 43 years old Daman Singh Karki of Api Himal-3 died on Wednesday after falling off the Simar cliff situated in ward 1 of the same rural municipality. Local Shovan Singh Lothyal confirmed his death. His dead body was recovered on Thursday morning. He is survived by a wife and two daughters.


Every year, a large number of people lose their lives in the highlands while collecting yarsa. Earlier, one person had died and two more were injured in Darchula while collecting yarsa.
