SINDHUPALCHOK, Jan 19: Two students have gone missing for the past three days from a hotel in Langtang National Park area of Nuwakot district.

The students went missing from the area after visiting Gosainkunda, a popular Hindu shrine in the district.

The missing students are Ongyal Sherpa of Helambu, Sindhupalchok and Japan Lama of Jorpati, Kathmandu. They are supposed to have gone missing from the Ghyangfedi area.

The two missing students were belonging to Bouddha-based Kumari Boarding School.

According to the principal of Shree Melamchi Ghyang Secondary School Purna Bhadur Guatam, the search operation has been launched to find out the whereabouts of the missing students. A helicopter has also been deployed for the same.

Similarly, Gautam also informed that the missing students visited the Helambu area on Jan 12 ahead of their trip to Gosainkunda.

On Wednesday, they had stayed at Fedi Lodge at Ghyangfedi. The missing students called their family members and shared about the heavy snowfall in the area last Wednesday.

"Although their parents asked not to leave the hotel, the duo departed at 9 am on Sunday morning. Since then, they are out of contact," Gautam said.

The bad weather amid heavy snowfall has prevented the local authorities from carrying out the rescue operations.

Likewise, principal Gautam urged the government authorities to expedite search operations to find out the whereabouts of the missing students.
