Two polling centers in Myagdi disable-friendly

MYAGDI, Nov 25: Two polling centers of Myagdi district have been made 'disable friendly' for the elections to the House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies.

The two polling centers were developed disable friendly to ease voters with different disabilities to cast ballots.

Spokesperson at the Office of Chief Returning Officer Khem Raj Pathak said that the Beni Secondary School and Dhaulagiri Secondary School, Singa of Beni municipality have been developed as disable friendly polling centers.

"Necessary preparations have been complete in both the centers. The facility is not possible in all polling centers", Pathak added.

He informed that the ramps have been constructed so that the people with physical disability can be taken to the polling centre through wheel chair.

The arrangement has been made for the people with disabilities so that their voting right will be properly exercises, said District Election Officer Kedar Nath Poudel.

"There are disable-friendly structures in some other polling centers which will ease the people with disabilities to cast votes", he shared.

A directive has been issued to the polling offices deputed in 106 polling centers of the district to give first priority to senior citizen, people with disabilities and ailing voters while casting votes.

There are 75,538 voters in Myagdi for the elections to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies to be held on Sunday.

As part of the poll preparation, the employees deputed in the elections have reached the polling centers and booths.

According to the Office of Chief Returning Officer, ballot boxes, ballot papers and Swastik sign stamp have also been taken to all the polling centers of Myagdi.

The security arrangement has been tightened in view of election in the district, said Deputy Superintendant of Police (DSP) Basundahra Khadka. RSS
