Two more succumb to COVID-19, Gandaki Province death tally climbs to seven

POKHARA, Aug 18: Two persons succumbed to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Tuesday.

An 87-year-old male patient from Pokhara Metropolitan City-16, who was undergoing treatment at the Western Regional Hospital under Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences in Pokhara, breathed his last earlier at 10:45 am, confirmed the director of the hospital, Dr Arjun Acharya.

The elderly, who had high blood pressure, diabetes and kidney problems for a long time, was admitted to the emergency ward of the hospital on Sunday. After his health deteriorated, he was transferred to the ICU.

Similarly, a 50-year-old female patient also died of the COVID-19 infection while undergoing treatment at Kaski Sewa Hospital in Pokhara earlier on Tuesday morning, according to Dr Padam Khadka, Managing Director of the hospital. The woman hailed from Byas Municipality-1 in Tanahun district.

The woman was admitted to the hospital on Sunday itself. According to her family sources, she had diabetes, heart disease and pneumonia.

With this, a total of five people have died of COVID-19 in Pokhara while the total cases of fatalities in Gandaki Province have reached seven.
