Two ministers of Karnali Province resign

SURKHET, August 28: Two ministers of the Karnali provincial government from the CPN (Maoist Center) resigned on Sunday. Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Bindaman Bista and Minister for Water Resources and Energy Development Ganesh Prasad Singh submitted their resignations to Chief Minister Jeevan Bahadur Shahi.

The meeting of the Maoist parliamentary party decided to recall Bista and Singh who were part of the government and make Rato Kami from Rukum West and Krishna Shah Acharya from Jajarkot as ministers. "We have resigned according to the decision of the party," said Bista, "New friends will run the government; we will focus on running the party."

There are 11 MPs from the Maoist Center in Karnali Provincial Assembly. Except for Pushna Gharti Magar, who is the Deputy Speaker of the provincial assembly, all MPs will have become ministers from the party.

Bista was appointed as a minister on November 30, 2021 and Singh was appointed as a minister on February 6, 2022. Maoists have already recommended the names of new ministers. The new ministers will be administered the oath of office and secrecy on Monday.
