Two Koica-built health posts open in Nuwakot

KATHMANDU, June 8: Two health posts constructed with support from the Korean government were inaugurated in Nuwakot district on Friday. Ratomate Health Post was inaugurated by Mayor of Belkot Municipality Rajendra and Charghare Health Post was inaugurated by Mayor of Bidur Municipality Sanju Pandit.

The inauguration and handover ceremony was witnessed by Chief Administrator of the Ministry of Health Ramesh Adhikari, Korea International Cooperation Agency (Koica) Country Director Kim Hyungkyoo and UNDP Country Director Renaud Meyer.

The health posts were part of the “Post-Disaster Health Service Recovery Program in Nuwakot District”, which was was signed between the government of Nepal and the Korean government on September 14 2016. Under the US$ 8.6 million program, a 50-bed Trisuli hospital building in Bidur of Nuwakot and 10 health posts in villages of Nuwakot were to be constructed. Koica has handed over 3 health posts and has started the construction of the Trishuli district hospital.

Apart from this, Koica has carried out various public health programs focusing on women's health in the district. Koica partnered with UNDP for site preparation for the construction of 10 health posts in the district.
