SURKHET, Sept 8: Police have arrested two persons from Nepalgunj for investigation into their involvement in the recent killing of 37 cows in various places of Surkhet.
According to chief of the District Police Office, Surkhet, DSP Basanta Rajaure, Inspector at Nepalgunj Sub-metropolis Surya Bogati and owner of Chitwan Carrier, Santripta Shrestha, the contractor transporting the cows, were arrested in coordination with Banke Police.

According to police sources, Bogati was assigned the job to deliver the cows to Dailekh from Nepalgunj. He had reached Katkuwa, from where the cows were reportedly pushed off the cliff.
“We will interrogate other staffers at Nepalgunj Sub-metropolis as well,” Rajaure added.
Among the 91 cows pushed off the cliffs in various places between Bheri and Katkuwa of Surkhet, 37 cows were found dead.
The cows were being relocated to Dailekh from Kanji House in Nepalgunj-12 when the incident took place on August 30.
