KATHMANDU, March 8: In the Asian Cross Country Championship organized by Nepal Athletics Association at Gokarna Golf Resort on Tuesday, Nepal won the gold medal in both men's senior individual and team events. Similarly, Nepal won two silver medals in senior women and junior women categories. Nepal also won two bronze medals.
Deepak Adhikari won the gold medal in the senior men's 10 km race. Japan's Daichi Kamino won the silver medal while Mukesh Bahadur Pal won the bronze medal in that event.
Nepal also won the gold medal in the senior men's team event. Deepak, Mukesh and Deepak Suhan won gold medals. Iran won silver and India won bronze.
Rasaili, Maharjan win golds in karate
Nepal also won two silver medals in the senior women’s category. Rajpura Pachhai won the silver medal for Nepal in the senior women's 10 km race. Nepal also won the silver medal in the team event. Japan's young Sarumida won the gold in that competition. India's Sonika won the bronze medal. Nepal won the silver medal in the team event of the same competition. Rajpura Pachhai, Pushpa Bhandari and Vrindra Dhanake Shrestha won silver medals.
India won the gold medal in that event. India's Sonika, Chhavi Yadav and Munni Devi won gold medals. Thailand's Linda Janthachit, Nathaya Thanaronavat and Sunika Prichapong won bronze medals.
Similarly, the Nepali team won the bronze medal in the junior men's (U-20) 8 km race of the championship.
Nepal won the bronze medal in the championship held at Gokarna Golf Resort on Tuesday. India won the gold medal and Iran the silver medal in the championship.
Nepal's Sher Bahadur Adhikari, Sanjay Damai and Vikesh Ghimire secured bronze medals. India won the gold medal and Iran the silver medal in this event.
In the junior men's 8 km individual event, Iran won gold and bronze and India won silver.
Similarly, Nepal's Rammaya Budha had to settle for a silver medal in the women's junior 6 km race after falling behind in the photo finish. Rammaya and India's Shruti Sridhar Redakar both covered the distance in 24 minutes and 15 seconds, with India's Shruti winning the gold medal in a photo finish.
