KATHMANDU, Sept 9: Two people have died after the swollen Rama River swept them away. The river is located on the border of Musikot Municipality-6 and Ward-7 of Rukum (West) district.
Bhanu Malla, ward chairman of Musikot Municipality-6, informed Republica that the deceased have been identified as 32-year-old Nirmala KC Thapa of Musikot Municipality-6 and 50-year-old Sarjhan Pun of ward-4.

It is reported that the swollen river swept them away while they were heading to Kanebang from Sankha on Sunday evening on a motorcycle (Ra 6 Pa 2961). According to Ward Chairman Malla, deceased Nirmala was riding the bike.
Police discovered their bodies on Monday morning. Sarjhan’s body was discovered about 20 meters downstream from the incident site where a motorcycle had trapped him. Similarly, Nirmala’s body was found about 300 meters downstream, with half of her body buried by landslides.
The bodies have been taken to the District Hospital, Salle, for post-mortem. Preparations are underway to hand over the bodies to the kin of the deceased.
