UDAYPUR, Oct 8: Two persons died leaving two others critically injured in a container accident on Siddhicharan Highway on Wednesday evening.

The container (Na 5 kha 9424) fell 500 meters down the Sano Damara road in Katari Municipality along the highway linking Marchiya, Katari, Ghurmi and Okhaldhunga. According to the Area Police Office (APO), Katari, the container headed for Katari from Okhaldhunga lost control and fell off the road killing Min Rana Magar and Rakesh Kumar Yadav who were in the vehicle. The identification was done on the basis of their identity cards.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Hemanta Bhandari of the APO said that the bodies were under the rocks and the rainfall had made it harder for them to retrieve them. Rescued Yogendra Dahal and Bijay Bhujel have sustained critical injuries and have been brought to Katari Hospital. Bhandari informed Republica that the injured have been referred to Biratnagar after their treatment was not possible at the local hospital. Both the injured have sustained deep cuts on their heads.

Stating that further details are yet to be received, the District Police Office, Udaypur, said that a police team has been deployed at the site of the incident for further investigation.
